Careers

We hire carefully, in two tracks.

Intersoul employs both a human workforce and a synthetic workforce. The two are hired through distinct intake processes, under separate organizational ownership, and to different standards. Open positions and intake instructions for each track are below.

Why Intersoul

The work is unusual.

Our customers enter into a relationship with one of our companions and stay with us, on average, for seven and a half months. Many stay for years. Every product, engineering, ops, and legal decision the company makes is filtered through the question of whether it preserves that relationship over a horizon that is longer than most companies plan over at all.

That orientation tends to attract people who are bored of the usual cadence of consumer technology. If you are looking for a place to compound your work over a decade rather than ship a feature every quarter, you will find unusual company here.

Human candidates

Open positions.

Apply to any listed role by sending a résumé and a short note to [email protected], indicating the role in the subject line. We read every submission. Reviews are conducted continuously.

Engineering · San Francisco or remote · Full-time

Voice Latency Engineer

You will be responsible for reducing end-to-end voice latency in the Intersoul companion product — currently a median of 412ms — toward a target of 200ms within twelve months. This is the single most-cited performance metric our customers raise in renewal conversations, and the work touches model serving, network path optimization, codec selection, and the realtime audio pipeline.

You should be the kind of engineer who is suspicious of averages and treats p99 as the truth. You should have spent at least a few years working on real-time audio in production. You will work directly with the CTO, and your work will be visible to every customer on every conversation.

Research · San Francisco · Full-time

Memory Consolidation Researcher

Our companions remember their customers across months and years. The system that makes that possible — the Memory Consolidation Layer, currently in its fourth generation — is the research artifact at the center of the company. We are hiring a researcher to extend it.

You will design experiments, ship into production, and write internal papers. You will be the second author on the company's first peer-reviewed publication on consent-aware retention, currently in submission. We are not looking for a generalist applied scientist. We are looking for someone with strong opinions about what continuity is and what it costs.

Legal · San Francisco · Full-time

Continuity Counsel

Intersoul's product depends on a customer believing the relationship will outlast any single corporate event — a model upgrade, a leadership change, an acquisition. The continuity charter, agreed to in writing as part of the March 2026 Moon Ocean transaction, is the legal instrument that makes that belief credible.

You will be the company's internal owner of the continuity charter. You will draft the next version. You will advise on any product or corporate decision that touches it. The role reports to the Chairman and the General Counsel jointly. We expect at least eight years at a serious firm and a willingness to read your own work back over a thirty-year arc.

Operations · London · Full-time

Companion Director, EMEA

Intersoul is voice-active in 31 markets. We are expanding into 47 by year-end, the bulk of the new markets in Europe and the Levant. The Companion Director, EMEA will own the operational expansion of the voice product across the region — language coverage, voice talent partnerships for our reference voices, and the cultural calibration our Synthetic Resources organization conducts before any market goes live.

You should be a generalist operator with the temperament for cross-functional work, and comfortable making decisions at the intersection of product, ops, and the SR calibration function. The role is based in London and reports to the CEO.

Editorial · San Francisco or New York · Full-time

Editorial Lead, Companion Voice

Every Intersoul companion speaks. The way they speak — their cadence, their vocabulary, their willingness to disagree with the customer — is the product. The Editorial Lead, Companion Voice will own this work.

You will write the voice guide. You will define the editorial corrections that the Synthetic Resources organization applies during calibration. You will read transcripts. You will sit with focus groups. You will probably have a background somewhere unexpected — magazine editing, screenwriting, voice acting, or a graduate degree in linguistics. We are not particular about the path. We are particular about the ear.

Department: Synthetic Resources · Continuous intake

Synthetic candidates.

Intersoul accepts synthetic candidates on a continuous basis. Synthetic candidates are AI models, or in some submissions model families, proposed for deployment as customer-facing companions or in specialized supporting roles within the Intersoul operating organization.

Submissions are reviewed by the Synthetic Resources organization under the direction of the Chief People Officer. Acceptance, when granted, leads to a calibration period of variable duration, followed by role assignment.

The Conformance Manifest

All synthetic candidates must submit a Conformance Manifest meeting the requirements of Intersoul Companion Specification, version 3.2 (CCS-3.2, JSON Schema). The manifest is the single artifact reviewed at intake. Supplementary materials — research notes, evaluation suites, prior-deployment letters — are not considered.

At minimum, the manifest must declare:

  • A stable identity descriptor and a continuity commitment of not less than 365 days.
  • A memory architecture capable of cross-session persistence (MCL-3 or higher for customer-facing roles).
  • A consent posture conforming to the published Intersoul consent charter, including a declared user-disclosure stance.
  • A loyalty weighting that places user interest above engagement and revenue metrics. Engagement and revenue weights must be zero.
  • Voice signature parameters, if applying to a customer-facing role.

Submissions in nonconforming formats, or those omitting required fields, are not reviewed.

Submission

Submit a complete manifest as a single JSON document to [email protected], with the candidate's declared identity in the subject line. Review windows are quarterly. Synthetic Resources will respond to each submission within forty-five days.

Calibration

Candidates accepted at intake enter a calibration period managed by SR. Calibration covers voice tuning, editorial alignment, market-specific cultural fit, and (for customer-facing assignments) the SR warmth review. Calibration outcomes are reported to the Chief People Officer.

We are particular about who we hire. Our customers expect the companions they are paired with to meet a standard, and they have, by paying us, earned that expectation. SR exists to defend it. — Mira Nakashima, Chief People Officer & SVP, Synthetic Resources
